Pancakes!!! (and a guest blogger)

Hello Seamus T. Shih tzu, guest blogger here! I'm taking over the beagle blog to narrate the story of the great pancake adventure.  As you can see I'm a very portable sized doggie who lends himself easily to road trips, which is why I got to go along... plus I needed to try out my new car seat, pictured here.

So today M and my parents (who are also her parents... is that weird?) piled in the car to partake in a great Ballerstein family tradition... buckwheat pancakes.  Which are found here...

Cartwright's Maple Tree Inn, in Angelica NY, a short 1 1/2 hour car ride from Rochester. During this car ride we did determine that my new safety seat works well since we went down a country road that wasn't exactly paved... my dad's car got a little dirty...

Their specialty is buckwheat pancakes with maple syrup and is a favorite stop in this family.  The restaurant is only open for the 9 weeks of syrup season and so it's always packed, even at 11:30 on a Friday...

(this is a better illustration of the ridiculous amount of pancakes on the grill not how packed the place was)

I heard that the plates and plates of buckwheat pancakes, homemade sausage, ham and fresh homemade maple syrup were delicious....

However, I was left behind in the family's mad dash for the door.  I'm sure Baxter feels my pain.  Here I am waiting expectantly for a plate to delivered to the car...

I was however, sorely disappointed to discover there were no leftovers (NO LEFTOVERS???!!?!) and so elected to curl up in my new seat and sleep in the sun the whole way home depriving the humans of the pleasure of my personality...

At least I got to go... poor Baxter was left at home to fend for himself in his own sunspot..

Hello there!

Why hello there Eager Beagle readers! I haven't been around much lately, that's M's fault she's been a
lazy typist lately it's not like I haven't had things to say, she doesn't get around to writing them.  So what have I been up to?  Well honestly a fair amount of sitting in the chair by the window either recharging the beagle batteries in the early sprint sunshine or looking out at the drizzle searching for firm signs of spring....

You can't see it in this picture but there are actually 3 rather chubby robins in the cherry tree, from what I understand they are a sign of spring but I like to keep a sharp eye on them to make sure that they don't do anything sneaky in my front garden... you never know with birds, every once in a great while I have to bark at them to keep them in line.

As you can see my beloved snow has gone away, leaving behinds lots of MUD which I also love.... and seem to pick up quite a bit of in the yard...
Picture that on all my legs plus my belly, my face, my ears and even the top of my head.  M does not like the "months of mud" we get up here... things should dry up by July... how boring life will be then.

I've also spent a fair amount of time trying to sneak kitchen scraps....

this time I was aiming for the remnants of this....

M really out did herself this time... that's a burger (with bacon in it) cheese, more bacon, a potato pancake and an egg on an English muffin... I don't know who this Rachael Ray person is that showed M how to make this but she must be a delightful lady!  Wonder if she would beagle sit me?  Maybe she doesn't know about the no human food rule?!?!

I've also participated in several movie marathons at the casa... Lord of the Rings wraps up tonight, I have to make sure to get down there before M so I can get the good blanket without the responsibility of sitting on her lap and the blanket to keep her warm... sometimes that's too much pressure for a little guy like me.  Sometimes I like to snuggle alone!

And that's all I've been up to... hopefully M gets back into regular blogging shape soon or I may have to consider hiring someone else for this!
